Quote: New Minn. law requires booster seats up to age 8May 16, 2009 St. Paul, Minn. (AP) — A new Minnesota law will require booster seats for children up to age 8 starting July 1. Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed the bill into law Friday. It requires children between 4 and 8 years old to be in booster seats or other forms of child restraint if they are shorter than 4 feet 9 inches tall. The current law on child restraints goes up to age 4. Violations are punishable with fines of up to $50. Citations will also come with information on how to get free or inexpensive child restrains. If it's about safety, shouldn't midgets be required to use booster seats, too?

Damn, my grandma is 4'8".
I'd tease her about the law, but it's a rule to never piss off an old German woman in her late 80's unless you want your butt kicked!

So, it's ok for my 10 year old son (who is only 1" taller than his 8yo, 4'5" little sister) to ride without a booster, but not her....

The gov't created it. It doesn't have to make sense.
My son is 7.5. I think I'll take my chances for 6 months.

So is this a primary law, or just another "tool" for LEO's to stop and go fishing?
