Hello,
Just got my permit in Sherburne County. 24 years old, UMD graduate, working 9 to 5 for the next 5,000 years. I'm excited to build a gun collection of my own, so it's great to see all the reviews and advice on here. Might start it off on Labor day with a .45...........

I have not bought anything yet. I've spent a lot of time researching and trying to figure out what I want, but it's pretty overwhelming. Any suggestions on where to purchase? I've looked at the bgi places, Cabelas and Gander, and some small places, Bills and J&S. While I want to invest in something reliable and practical, I don't really have $1000 to spend right now. Suggestions would be apreciated.

Give us a few thoughts that you've had in terms of your intended use for this pistol, and we'll gladly offer suggestions. We're good at that... -Mark

Well, I ended up going with the Glock 17 9mm. Partly because of its good reputation, partly becuase it was cheaper than many other i looked at, and partly because i was tired of looking and just wanted one! i might be a little guilty of an impulse buy, but i dont think completely. i am happy with it so far, ive been to the range 3 times with it. not sure how much longer i can afford the ammo each time. any ideas where to get a bulk amount to last me awhile?

A Glock 17 is a workhorse. As long as it points well for you, you did good. Cheapest 9mm, assuming you aren't reloading, is Walmart. Fleet Farm isn't far behind. -Mark
