There's a joke the goes a lot like that. The identity of the driver varies depending on location. In the South he's often identified as "a good ol' boy". Here in rural Minnesota he's frequently characterized as "an Indian", though sometimes the LEO is "an Indian" and the drunk driver thinks he's going to be scalped or some nonsense. Other times the driver is identified as Polish.
