| Post subject: | Police Range Accident in Brooklyn Park |
Just heard a blip of this on AM1500 so I may not have all the details right. During a police training event at a range in Brooklyn Park, an officer's gun "just friggin' went off" firing a round into the ground at a slightly rearward angle sending shrapnel into the leg of a range officer. The injured RO went to the hospital, but is going to be alright. What is up with metro police officers doing dumb shit with their guns lately? I suppose when you think you're above the law and common sense safety... |

This is probably evidence of evolution at work. Guns are evolving into self-actuating devices, capable of just friggin' going off whenever and wherever they please. We've seen it with computers in sci fi movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey and I, Robot. Now we're seeing it with guns. Only it isn't in the safety of our movie theatre seats. This stuff really happens! 
*sigh* This is what happens when we choose not to teach logic in school and fail to rectify the error at home. |

This is insane. How many ROs must pay the price? Police should not have guns. |

Perhaps police guns should only be handled by a few special policepersons who are specially trained. If we continue to let EVERY police officer have guns this will continue to happen. There should be reasonable controls on police guns. Only officers that are trained and can show some SPECIAL NEED for a weapon should have them.

I didn't know there was a range of any kind in Brooklyn Park - even one restricted to the special people. |
