You knew it was going to happen.
The DA in the NYC case "threw" the case there.
Unless there is enormous MEDIA pressure, the police regularly get away with it.

Did the judge give any reason? Could the same reason apply to Treptow?

Police POLITICS. I'll bet he's up for re-election and thinks he "needs" the police vote.

He hopes that by then, the public will forget.
He KNOWS the "POLICE" will never forgive.

The police and county attorney will come out fine by just "changing the facts". The public won't know.
Because of the resolution of the cases, it will turn out that the policeman is not a criminal, and the other guy was wrong.
Anyone of us could be stopped by Officer Landon Beard, who will now probably be returned to duties, instead of just cashing his paychecks.
Having beat a rap like this, he'll not be too concerned about accountablity for his actions.

What is this accountablity you speak of?

Nor will the rest of the gang he runs with. Remember folks, general deterence was the foundational corrections model in our system. No fear of prsecution = no deterence = no reason for the criminals cops not to do whatever.

Inside scuttlebutt tells me that Ofc. Beard won't be with Robbinsdale much longer, and will take employment with the Feds.

Great! Maybe he can be partners with Lee Paige. He is certainly professional enough.

If you haven't contributed $100 to Treptow's defense fund, NOW is the time to do so. If you have, send more $$$.

Nope. Case happened in Anoka County, but the Landen Beard half of it was shipped to Washington County for prosecution to avoid the conflict that arises when your office is prosecuting two defendants, each of whom also happens to be the key witness in the other case.
