Good morning,

I've been looking for a paddle / pancake holster for my S&W 642. I believe I've got my in-pocket holster needs taken care of but the holster bug has bitten me and I'd like to find some other options. While I'm a fan of shopping on the web, I find that holsters require much more hands-on (touch, feel, try, etc.) before buying.

I've been to Sportsman's Warehouse and Gander and both shops offer a pretty mediocre selection of holsters and very little for the S&W 642.

Would you kindly share your thoughts on which Twin Cities gun shops offer a good selection of concielable holsters, belt holsters, etc. for smaller revolvers?

Any idea if these stores are open on Sundays?

Thanks all!

Darren

Good morning Darren and welcome to the forum.
As for holsters I have found the best selection at Bills in Robinsdale or the Frontiersmen in Saint Louis Park, I guess Bills north location also has a good selection also. The Frontiersmen will be closed Sunday. I purchased a Bianchi belt holster for my 642 from Frontiersmen years ago so I know they stock holsters for it. I have found some of my best holster deals on line including E-Bay. You need to be careful that you don't overspend on E-Bay so it is always a good idea to know what a particular rig sells for new before getting into any bidding wars.
My favorite holster for my 642 is my Galco paddle holster, I do still run into a few places that are posted and it is an easy on/off holster. It has a tension screw so you can adjust the hold on the gun. If you are looking for something in (plastic ) Uncle Mikes makes a pretty good fiting holster for the 642,this I purchased at Bills south location.
Good luck with your search and again welcome aboard !!

They had a lot of holsters. They mainly cater to police.

They have a lot for Glock. a lot of OWB. Not as much IWB. Some Ankle rigs.

The holster swap / show Idea for the 16th of Dec sounds like a good idea.

Unless you can get one that is molded for the EXACT gun you have, buying an OTC holster from a gun shop is a compromise at best.

Milt Sparks,
Alessi,
or hbeleatherworks.com

have stuff that is a full cut above what's sold in the retail market.
