Well, I couldn't resist Bill's sale on the Taurus 1911 and I picked one up along with a Blackhawk 3 slot pancake holster like this one:
http://www.blackhawk.com/product_detail ... id=3584&d=
I really like the way the holster snugged the gun up next to my body and with a good belt made it quite secure. I didn't like the way the retention strap was almost high enough for the hammer to slip underneath it. What I really didn't like was that in the course of a couple hours I found that the retention strap actually wiped the safety off twice.
I swapped it for a CQC SERPA and haven't had a single issue. http://www.blackhawk.com/product_detail ... id=4025&d=
It took a little bit of dinking around getting the retention device to function just the way I wanted, but it has been quite good and the SERPA technology is really nice on a condition-one single action pistol.

I have that same 3-slot holster for my Para, and it works just fine for me. Still waiting for my permit (the sheriff has 25 days left...) but wearing it around the house it's really comfortable, and draws smoothly.
I'm a big guy (6'5, 340 pounds) and it sits right about 4:30 snugged up against me and I can forget it's there, even using a mediocre belt. I can't wait to get a really good belt.
My Para LDA is a double-stack, and it really fills up the space up top. It doesn't have an exposed hammer either, now that I think about it. I'll have to do some experimentation with it when I get home. I suppose though that if they give it enough room to make it a "one size fits most 1911s" kind of holster, that might leave too much room for some.

Sale? On the Taurus Pt 1911? Why didn't anyone tell me? Thanks for not telling me, guys ... I might have hocked the car and I need to drive to work.
Honest, I can quit any time ...

I can't hardly believe it either. Even more shocking - I may be the owner of a 2nd Taurus before the week is out. And I have been eyeing a Taurus Gaucho too!
BTW: I think the reason the leather holster didn't work out so well is because of the ambi-safety.

When the finish wears off (probably in a couple weeks ![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif) ) I'll just have Pinnacle bead-blast it and apply a nickel teflon coating.
Still can't beat that price anywhere. It shoots like a dream and has the features of guns that cost twice as much.
