After three conference committee meetings, the omnibus data practices bill will soon return to the House and Senate floors for approval.
The bill (HF1360/SF596*) returns without several House conditions, including permission for parole and probation authorities to access records regarding a weapon permit for a defendant, parolee or probationer.

Kimber, I'm sorry...I apparently dropped the ball on this one and knew nothing about it. Why exactly the oposition? I see the big picture and understand...but what issues/ideas put that in/got it removed? Just trying to learn about something I was naive enough to miss.

That's excellent news but I would rather it remain indefinitely postponed as still indicated in the bill status. I am guessing that the website will be updated Monday.

One of the continuing problems at the Legislature is that Conference Committee Reports are often only available at the last moment and then only at the "desk" so that only Legislators can see the actual language.
