I'm aware of the differences between the two and again, unless you're the head guy or gal for the agency, this law does not apply to you. If you are a non-sworn employee of a police department and decide to risk termination and get caught carrying a firearm, you'll get fired and the police chief/sheriff won't be prosecuted because you weren't given explicit permission to carry the firearm, so again this law doesn't have an impact.
Regardless, it's still a silly law.
