So this bill is going to be law now? I thought it was dying

No, it was tabled. CSM is just being "selective" in their email. The amendment passed, but the bill then got tabled. No bill, no amendment.

From 2004 to 2006, the
ATF made one arrest for every 1.6 gun shows investigated.

So if they investigated, say, one hundred gun shows, each of which attracted, conservatively, between 1,000 and 6,000 people, then from the overall group of 100,000 to 600,000 patrons they made, roughly, an astounding 62 arrests. As we know, about .062%

I'm curious to know the grand total cost of these investigations over two years.

More-over how many crime convictions :?: Compel them to extrapolate that to dollar cost.

Let's also note that nowhere does it say that the arrests are gun-show related.

You mean, like, they ran a plate in the parking lot and pulled up a warrant? Or something of the like? That's a VERY good point. And regardless of the nature of the arrests, how many convictions were they able to see through?

Of course, Heather is probably all over a corrected update letter at this very moment.

I wonder what the arrest rate would be if they investigated welfare offices.

I'm willing to stretch and say that the label of "investigated" may mean just having a show on a list, and that the arrest count may have absolutely no relation to the show at all.

Let's play:

For sake of easy math (which seems to be the only type taught these days), let's say there were 25 gun shows in the Minneapolis metro last year. Let's say that there were 15,000 arrests made in the metro last year (yes, I know, that's even more amusing).

Oh my goodness, there were 600 arrests per gun show last year! Think of the children! The sky is falling! My head is up my ass and my proctologist is on vacation!

Remember, 87.59% of all statistics are pulled out of thin air. Just like that one.

That could be construed as profiling.

That would be the equivalent of a cop sitting outside a bar a closing, or setting up your deer stand on the trail between the swamp and the corn field.
