Been hunting down around where I grew up in SW Wisconsin.
Steyr Scout .308 accounted for both harvested (so far): it might not have that elegant classic look, but it's sure efficient.
The BFR .45-70 was along in the gear in case the weather got icky, but turned out not to be necessary for opening weekend. Made a mad dash yesterday to pick up the meat from the locker plant that'd processed it. One big cooler full almost to the brim with steaks and loin cuts and another of deerburger.
Had considered going out this weekend with the Kodiak .50 for the WI M/L season, but the weather forecasts convinced me to just go down for the meat and come right home. Might go M/L hunt with a friend over by Frederick, WI tomorrow if the snow stops and roads get plowed reasonably fast... If nothing else, there's an additional herd control/antlerless season coming up in about a week.
