I have a bunch of friends that deer hunt with their handguns, and I was wondering how the Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44mag is for a hunting piece. I have seen a few used ones on sale online and they are around $300.00 The one specifically I want has the 10 & 1/2" barrel.
Thanks,
Mike

I hunt with a Redhawk and a Super Redhawk both with 7.5" barrels and .44 Mag caliber. The .44 Mag is a nice deer round but I think a 7.5" barrel is about as long as you would want to carry. Even that seems too long at times for me. I use a bandolier holster, 7.5" is too long with a belt holster since it hits when you sit.
