I just saw it was posted on KARE 11's peice about the sword fight a couple of days ago. Funny that KARE would show, of all the views of HCMC, the one with the Bans Gun sign on the door. No agenda there.

I go in and out of HCMC quite offen and the signs that I have seen are non compliant. One sign banning dangerous weapons came down when they remodel the enterance and they never bothered to put it back up, but the no smoking sign went back up.

A hospital might not even be able to post at all. Isn't it somewhat like a hotel in that it is your domicile if you are staying overnight?

I a case where the entity is specifically barred by law, has anyone thought of taking a sign down, take it to management and explained with the law in their hand how it is not legel for them to do this?
If anyone had the inclination it might be wise to do it without carrying at that particular time..

Just Musing :D :D

Interestingly enough, the signs in the tunnels (where you physically have to be *in* the building) have been replaced by the newer Hennepin County signs, which reference the statue in little letters. However, they somehow managed to not update the external door signs. Go figure...

Why can't HCMC post? Is it b/c they're a government hospital? Also, is this different than NMMC/Abbott/Allina/Fairview Hospitals? Are they allowed to post? Why/why not?

Red

HCMC can't post because they are a (county) government facility.

Cool, I thought that'd be why, but I also thought it could kind of be tennants/guests if staying there/visiting someone. I was thinking too, all the nursing homes here post (most out of compliance), but I would think that'd fall under landlord/tennant...who knows, I'm just a street grunt :)

Nice bit of activism, but to have all the ammo, who would prosecute them for there unlawful posting of a sign?

There is no penalty for posting a sign. There is nothing to prosecute.
