Maybe a minor victory, but I feel a small part responsible.
Back in late December or early January, I was there for a business lunch when I noticed their sign. Before leaving, I managed to have a chat with the bartender, who I think may be the owner, regarding the silliness of the sign, how only the law-abiding would follow it, etc... I also handed him one of my No Guns=No $$ cards, and told him I was sorry they no longer wanted my business (as I signed the check for 6 people, my client guests).
I was back in New Ulm Wednesday, and walking by noticed the sign was down, so I went in and had dinner. I saw the same bartender/owner(?) and mentoned it was great that they had taken the silly sign down. He didn't have much to say (never did), but acted like it was a non-event. Just as it should be.
I don't know how many others talked to them, but I'm taking credit for this one until I hear different!
By the way, they really do have good food- If you're in New Ulm, stop in and let them know you're happy they removed the sign.
