I saw that on Fox news today. The guy was actually holding an expanded bullet although it looked like the lead was gone and it was just the jacket. They didn't explain why they never removed the bullet in a hospital. The whole thing seemed kind of strange.

unless the bullet is causing more damage staying in then they usually don't take it out. My step father has a .22 in his arm from when he was shot in MPLS about 5 years ago. The doctors told him that they would only take it out if it was causing major pain or if it moved through his circulatory system into the lungs, heart or brain.
